You can also earn them by participating in the recycling incentive program, which rewards players who bring their garbage to recycling bins. This can be used to recycle any item, including bows, heroes, weapons and shields, skills and even food. The only exception is starting weapons. Upgrades make an item stronger. It improves the health, shield, regeneration and strength of its abilities. It also increases damage and impact. However, it is not upgraded past level 10. After every 10 levels, you are able to evolve a hero or weapon. The evolution process lasts 20 minutes.
Substats
The sub-stats are random, but they can be improved in different ways. The sub-stats do not increase with each upgrade like the main stats. They can be increased randomly on any slot. The number of sub-stats that an artifact is determined by its rank. The rank 2 artifact has no sub-stats, while Rank 5 has five. Each sub-stat has a certain range it can be created within, depending on its rareness.
If you want to get more chances of getting a particular sub-stat you can select the REFINE ARTIFACTS option to increase it by four levels. However, this will cost you MORA. Finding duplicates is another method to increase the sub-stats of an item. You can then enhance duplicates to give them higher quality or a different set of sub-stats. This can be an effective method for players with high levels to boost their character's DPS. Be cautious not to overdo it or risk losing your MORA.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens allow players to reroll an item that is currently possessed by a particular unit. Rerolling the item results in an upgrade to level 1 with different bonuses and a brand new kind of equipment. In some instances the rerolling of an item can significantly increase its level of ilvl. However the item won't maintain its ilvl and rerolling is only beneficial when the item has rare affixes.
Rerolling an item resets the base power as well as any upgrades, and then rerolls all substats in addition to the substats. This can be useful if an upgraded item's maximum power is less than the desired level, or if the player desires different substats on an existing ring. The token for rerolling is available from a variety of sources such as the skulled creature, mystery box or as a reward after defeating a boss.
The items that can be rerolled include weapons, armor, rings, and other accessories. Weapons can be rerolled to increase physical power, spellpower or health. Armor can be rerolled to improve defense or damage reduction, and rings can be rerolled to reduce damage or durability. Rerolling a crafted equipment item can result in a rare item of the same sort. A rerolled item does not keep its owner's level, and any resources used up will not be repaid.

Pressing the green button on the menu of items will reroll the item. But the button will not be displayed on any item that is currently equipped by the unit. To reroll an object the player needs to have at least one token for reroll in his inventory. The button, the player will need to choose which stat they want to reroll and then confirm the action. In some instances the reroll might take longer than the time expected. This is due to the rerolling process having numerous possible combinations. In these instances, the player may utilize a second token to speed the process.
Item level
The level of an item is a vital statistic that indicates how strong an item is. It is used by players to evaluate items, and helps players decide which is more potent for their particular style of play. It also considers the ilvls for all gear slots that can be upgraded however, not the shirts and tabards. This includes rings, cloaks shoulders, neck, chest, back, wrist hands, feet, legs, waist, and an item in the off hand. The ilvl is taken into consideration twice as the off-hand and the main hand have different iLevels.
